Iran Wins 2024 Cerebral Palsy World Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory against Ukraine to avenge its defeat in the 2022 final, winning the first Cerebral Palsy World Cup - having finished runner-up four times.
Mehdi Shokoohi (two goals) and Mehdi Bakhshi were on target for Iran.
Team Melli had defeated Venezuela, Ireland, Germany, the US and Brazil on its way to the final.
Ukraine missed the chance to win the competition for a fourth time, while the Netherlands claimed a first victory over Brazil since 1992 to clinch bronze.
CP football is played with seven players on each side and smaller goals. Players are split into categories based on their disabilities: FT1, FT2 and FT3, with FT3 players least physically impacted.
