Russian Naval Team in Iran for Int’l Army Games
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Navy announced that a team from the Russian Navy has arrived in Iran’s northern city of Nowshahr to participate in the Depth 2018, an international competition among naval divers slated for early August.
The Russian Navy’s combined diving team arrived in Iran as the first team and will begin its trainings on Sunday, according to the Iranian Navy’s Public Relations Office.
The team is made up of frogmen from the Russian Navy’s Black Sea, Baltic, Northern, and Pacific fleets and Caspian Flotilla.
The Iranian Navy will host naval teams from Russia, China, South Africa, Venezuela, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, India, Pakistan and Syria as part of the international war games.
In the tournament, the participating teams will compete with each other from August 1 for 10 days at the Imam Khomeini University of Nowshahr.
Last year’s Army Games were held at twenty-two testing grounds in Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and China.
More than 1,200 soldiers from 22 countries participated in the military games in Russia in 2017.
