Commemorative Muharram Rite Performed in Northern Iran

MASOULEH (Tasnim) – Residents of the historical village of Masouleh in Iran's northern province of Gilan performed an 800-year-old rite, known as ‘Alam-Bandan’, to pay tribute to the third Shiite Imam, Hussein bin Ali (PBUH), in the lunar month of Muharram.
